The PKP CARGO Group is the largest rail freight operator in Poland and one of the leading operators in the European Union. It offers comprehensive logistics services, including traction, forwarding, terminal, siding and customs. PKP CARGO holds licenses for the provision of rail freight in Poland and eight EU countries: the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Slovenia, Lithuania, Austria, Germany and the Netherlands. The international activity of PKP CARGO is manifested in the development of railway connections along the New Silk Road and along the North-South route between the Three Seas Initiative countries.

In the first half-year of 2022, PKP CARGO trains carried 51 million tonnes of goods, which constitutes a 5% increase compared to the same period of 2021. Rolling stock potential of the Group is made of more than 1700 locomotives and 54 thousand carriages of various types.

PKP CARGO, as the national Polish rail carrier, is an important part of the Polish energy security system. This is due to the fact that almost half of the electricity in Poland is generated from hard coal, and PKP CARGO is responsible for the transport of approximately 40% of coal to power and heat plants. The company is also an important link in transporting coal to fuel depots from which households stock up.

Since the beginning of Russia's aggression against Ukraine, PKP CARGO has been involved in the transport of humanitarian aid for the Ukrainian civilian population. Trains transport food, water, medication, dressings and medical products, as well as clothing, footwear, sleeping bags, blankets, tents and other equipment necessary for the survival of people who lost all their possessions as a result of the war.

The company got involved in helping to export Ukrainian products, including grains, after Russia blocked their ports. Some of these goods are transported by land to Polish ports, from where they travel to their final recipients.

These tasks could not be carried out without the involvement of over 20,000 employees of the PKP CARGO Group. The crew is the largest capital of PKP CARGO SA and other companies, therefore, great emphasis is put on the development of social dialogue in the Group, improving working conditions, and upgrading the professional skills of employees.
