• A professional railway transport company providing comprehensive railway sidetrack services in the metalworks and coke plants owned by ArcelorMittal (Dąbrowa Górnicza, Kraków, Sosnowiec, Świętochłowice, Zdzieszowice) as well as railway rolling stock and infrastructure maintenance services.
• It is a licensed rail freight carrier dealing with bulk cargo transportation of coal, coke, sinter, limestone, ballast, ores, semi-finished goods such as slabs and billets and final products – coils, plates and sheets and long rails. Thanks to strong support of its owner – Arcelor- Mittal Poland S.A. holding 100% shares in the company – it provides railway services to a steel concern ArcelorMittal and to companies situated near sidetracks.
• It has its own Training and Examination Centre equipped with an electric and diesel (including remotely controlled) locomotive simulator registered by the Railway Transport Office (RTO).

KOLPREM owns a park of machinery comprising:
• track machinery
• railway cranes
• motor trucks
• state-of-the-art diesel and electric locomotives (6Dg, SM-42, TEM-2, BR232, 16D, EU-07, Traxx E-186, Dragon, 111ED Gama, S-200, M62M Gagarin)
• wagons (coal wagons, platform wagons, Fals dump wagons, and tankers)

and technical and repair facilities including:
• inspection and repair halls and workshops
• testing and inspection stations
• verification laboratory
• railway traffic signalling transmitters.

Seeing a potential for transportation from the north to the south of Poland, the company has been consistently developing its transport operations in that direction (ports). It plans to buy new state-of-the-art locomotives and wagons to fulfil all its obligations to the satisfaction of its customers.

Due to continuing development and work on improving its services, the company received the “Safety Culture in Rail Transport” award from the President of RTO several times and won the award for “Innovativeness”.

TRANSPORT OF A LONG RAIL

The slogan “Choose railway!”, dominant throughout 2021, announced as the European Year of Railways, was reflected in the transporting results of KOLPREM.

After many months of intensive work, the KOLPREM company has achieved one of its strategic goals - the transport of a long rail. The preparations for the project, initiated in 2021, translated into activities that certainly increased the comprehensiveness of the transport offer and will most likely strengthen the position of our company on the domestic and foreign transport market.

Transporting a long rail is a challenge that requires extensive experience and proper preparation of wagons – including the assembly of the so-called silent brakes and the installation of specialized racks allowing the transport of a 120-meter rail in accordance with the strict UIC regulations in international traffic.

The tendency of the development of transport in Europe is towards specializations, which bring carriers more profit. By launching that unique transport, KOLPREM took a step in this exact direction, which will undoubtedly strengthen its market position and, consequently, potentially increase its orders portfolio. In the near future, transports will be carried out to German welding plants and, depending on the demand, to the south of Europe.
